About us:
The Interactive Media Systems group, part of the Institute of Software Technology and Interactive Systems at the Vienna University of Technology, dedicates its work to fundamental research and education in the area of multimedia. By multimedia we mean true interaction with complementary and multi-modal information rather than simple aggregation of media pieces.
Our main areas of work are video and multimedia processing, web-based information systems, virtual and augmented reality.

| Tiefenwahrnehmung vollautomatisch (Presseaussendung der TU Wien) |
| Description: |
InformatikerInnen der Technischen Universität (TU) Wien arbeiten an der Entwicklung vollautomatischer Algorithmen zur Tiefenwahrnehmung von Bildinhalten. Diese Algorithmen liefern, im Gegensatz zu bisher verwendeten Systemen, auch ausgezeichnete Ergebnisse in schwierigen Bildteilen wie einfärbigen Bildbereichen (z.B. weiße Wand) oder bei Verdeckungen an Objektgrenzen. Mit den neuartigen Auswerteverfahren rückt der Bereich der 3D-Bildverarbeitung von seinem etablierten Feld der wissenschaftlichen Bildanalyse zusehends in Richtung Heimanwender, wo innovative Multimediaanwendungen à la "Google-Earth" davon profitieren können. |
